Mentions of “Shio Cellar”

In the 6th century from Assyria under the command Ioane Zedazeni had arrived with Attsameti Saint Fathers to spread Christianity in Georgia. One of the Attsmaeti Saint Shio built Monastery in cave which is located upper Mtskheta, in front of the present Dzegvi, on the left side of Mtkvari, hereinafter called as a Shio Mgvimeli. Shio had the wine cellar in the monastery, he treated guests with wine. Pitchers, according to the story, were filled up. Out of course " Shio Cellar " was became synonymous of acknowledgement of the receipt of possession, plentiful". ( 1979:763 Sakhokia )
